1. Stunning Natural Beauty

The Seychelles archipelago offers an extraordinary backdrop to any event.

The Seychelles’ islands are ringed with some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, such as Anse Source d’Argent and Beau Vallon. If you can step away from the ocean, verdant hills and unique flora await. These lush environments are ideal for team-building activities or outdoor sessions that stimulate creativity and productivity. Or as a post-event getaway to unwind and relax before flying home.

Many resorts in Seychelles take advantage of the stunning scenery by offering outdoor venues. Such settings help event participents connect with nature and each other while taking in the spectacular views, ensuring unforgettable experiences for all involved.

Top Things to Do in Seychelles

If you want to add a sightseeing itinerary to your Seychelles event, here’s a quick rundown of the most popular tourist activities and sites in the archipelago.

  • Anse Source d’Argent Beach: Officially one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, famous for its striking granite boulders and crystal-clear waters.
  • Vallée de Mai Nature Reserve: A UNESCO World Heritage Site on Praslin Island, this lush valley is home to the unique Coco de Mer palm and various local wildlife.
  • Snorkeling and Diving: Seychelles’ clear, warm waters are perfect for exploring vibrant coral reefs teeming with diverse marine life.
  • Morne Seychellois National Park: The largest national park in Seychelles, covering over 20% of Mahé Island, offering hiking trails through mountainous rainforests with stunning views.
  • Seychelles National Botanical Gardens: Located in Victoria, Mahé, these historic gardens showcase various exotic and endemic plants, including giant tortoises and fruit bats.
  • Aldabra Atoll: The world’s second-largest coral atoll and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Aldabra is a haven for naturalists, known for its large population of giant tortoises.
  • Sir Selwyn Selwyn-Clarke Market: The vibrant market in Victoria, the capital city, offers a lively atmosphere and a glimpse into local life, selling fresh produce, spices, and crafts.
  • Sailing and Island-Hopping: Sailing around the archipelago is a popular way to explore the diverse and secluded islands, each with unique charm and beauty.
  • Beau Vallon Beach: A favorite spot for both tourists and locals on Mahé, known for its clear waters, beautiful sunsets, and a variety of water sports activities.
  • La Digue Island: Famous for its laid-back atmosphere, traditional architecture, and ox-cart transport, it offers a step back in time and an escape from the modern world.

2. World-class Venues

Don’t let the laid-back charm and island vibes fool you. The Seychelles is home to state-of-the-art conference venues and luxury resorts with modern event venues.

Mahé, the largest island, is the central business, economic, and commercial hub. It’s home to the capital, Victoria, and boasts the highest concentration of event venues. You can choose between dedicated convention centers close to the offices and government buildings or secluded resorts that mix business with pleasure in stunning locations.

The Eden Bleu Hotel, strategically located on Eden Island and connected to Mahé by a small bridge, epitomizes convenience and elegance. The Kempinski Seychelles Resort seamlessly combines luxury, natural beauty, and sophisticated event facilities.

Finally, the Savoy Resort & Spa, on the world-famous Beau Vallon Beach, is home to the largest ballroom in the Seychelles. It can host up to 600pax, features cutting-edge audiovisual technology, and offers flexible seating arrangements for various event formats.

The surrounding islands offer secluded luxury resorts and private retreats for more exclusive events that deliver a truly unforgettable experience in jaw-dropping locations.

3. Government Support

The Seychelles government has implemented various strategies and policies to foster a business-friendly environment. This includes streamlining bureaucratic processes (i.e., visas) and offering incentives for international events and conferences hosted here.

Recognizing the potential of the conference and event industries, the government has invested in modern infrastructure and regulations, ensuring that facilities meet international standards. Additionally, there is a focus on providing training and development to enhance the skills of local professionals in hospitality and event management.

The investments have paid off. Seychelles has hosted many large global events in recent years.

If you’re hosting an event here, you can expect a lot of support. But speak to our Seychelles team first, and they’ll guide you through the initial steps. We’ve been organizing events across Africa since 2009, and our local teams can easily navigate every government’s rules and regulations.

4. Accommodation for Every Budget

Seychelles is often perceived as an exclusive haven for the ultra-rich.

If you’re worried about costs, you’ll be heartened to know that the islands have hotels and resorts to suit every budget and taste. But if you are looking for an ultra-luxurious location to host your event, you won’t be disappointed by the high-end, exclusive resorts in secluded locations (think… private islands only accessible by helicopter).

Mahé is the largest island in Seychelles and the economic hub. Here, you can find everything from budget-friendly guesthouses to opulent resorts. The island is small enough that distance from accommodation to venue won’t be an issue regardless of where your participants stay.

The two best budget options on Mahé are the Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Resort & Casino and The Wharf Hotel & Marina. Mid-range options include Kempinski Seychelles Resort and Coral Strand Smart Choice Hotel – both located in beautiful parts of Mahé. For luxury, we recommend Banyan Tree Seychelles and Four Seasons Resort Seychelles.

But if you really want to push the boat out (quite literally, as these places are often only accessible by boat!) Seychelles has an abundance of secluded luxury resorts.

North Island is an private island, ideal for VIP events or top-tier corporate retreats. It combines unparalleled natural beauty with the utmost luxury and privacy. Fregate Island is an eco-friendly alternative offering pristine villas with private pools. It’s a smaller, more intimate setting for high-level meetings or incentive trips.

5. Diverse and Welcoming Society

Seychelles is a melting pot of cultures, creating a uniquely welcoming atmosphere that enriches any international conference or event.

Each island is a tapestry of African, European, Indian, and Chinese influences, reflected in the architecture, cuisine, language, music, art, and many traditions. This cultural diversity is not just an aspect of everyday life but a proud characteristic of the nation.

While Creole is the native language, English and French are widely spoken. And thanks to the many international businesses with offices here, you’ll hear innumerable languages spoken on the street. Regardless of where your participants are traveling from, they won’t struggle with a language barrier.

The people of Seychelles are renowned for their warmth and hospitality. This welcoming nature is deeply rooted in the community and a dedication to making guests feel at home. From hotel staff to local vendors, the Seychellois’ friendly and helpful attitude contributes to a comfortable and enjoyable stay for all visitors.

Seychelles’ commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and equality makes it a beacon of progressive values in the region. The nation has made great strides in gender equality and decriminalized homosexuality in 2016. We consider it one of the most LGBTQ-friendly event destinations in Africa.

The government and business community also strive to make the islands accessible and accommodating to visitors with different needs. Many venues and facilities are designed to be disability-friendly, ensuring that all guests, regardless of physical ability, can enjoy their experience to the fullest.

6. Security and Stability

One of the critical factors contributing to Seychelles’ appeal as a global conference and event destination is its reputation for security and political stability. The archipelago is a safe haven in an increasingly turbulent world, offering a tranquil and secure environment for international gatherings.

Seychelles boasts one of the lowest crime rates in the world. The sense of safety is palpable as you walk around. Your participants can focus on their conference objectives without concerns about personal security.

The islands have no history of terrorism, and Seychelles has managed to maintain a stable and harmonious social environment devoid of civil unrest. This stability is rooted in the nation’s strong community values and inclusive societal structure.

Finally, the country enjoys consistent and stable governance, with peaceful transitions of power and a democratic political system.

7. Surprising Accessibility

Despite its seemingly remote location in the Indian Ocean, reaching Seychelles is much easier than you might imagine.

Leading airlines offer regular direct flights from key hubs in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. While your participants may have to travel a long distance, they’re guaranteed comfort on the way. And once they arrive, they won’t be disappointed.

On Mahé and other large islands, a range of transportation options are available. Taxis, rental cars, and chauffeur services are easily arranged. Mahé also has a reliable public bus service – an economical way to get around.

For events taking place on islands other than Mahé, such as Praslin or La Digue, there are regular domestic flights and ferry services. Air Seychelles operates multiple daily flights. Ferry services like Cat Cocos offer comfortable and scenic transfers to various islands.

Many hotels and resorts, especially those accustomed to hosting international conferences, offer shuttle services. You can book these services for airport transfers or transport between event venues, accommodations, and sightseeing tours.

Conclusion

The Seychelles archipelago is an unparalleled destination for hosting international conferences and events. From the luxurious resorts dotting pristine beaches to the budget-friendly hotels, the islands cater to every need and budget.
